I am a multimedia artist based in Medford, MA, and working throughout the greater Boston area. I create lively and colorful artworks in paint, pattern design, custom illustration, and site-specific murals. To create my illustrations and designs I draw from a range of techniques, which include printmaking and embroidery in addition to drawing and painting.
My artistic background is in illustration, and many of my artistic influences are graphic artists and children’s illustrators. In all my projects, I try to follow that illustrative thread of whimsy, colorfulness, and inviting, immersive detail.
Especially when it comes to murals and site-specific installations, I'm passionate about bringing the novelty, levity, and discovery of storybook-style illustration into the everyday experiences for folks of all ages. I specialize in creating fun, site-specific compositions that viewers can return to again and again, always finding something new to observe or discover.
Whether it is a painting, a pattern for a wallpaper or print application, or a mural, I love to work on custom and client-specific projects. I strive to create meticulously-crafted artwork that makes the viewer feel truly considered – like the work is responding to the distinctiveness of their interests and their space.
One of my favorite mural projects to date was a floor-to-ceiling stairway mural for a public library in Hampton, NH, which I completed in 2019. I loved building the mural design around theme suggestions and input from the library stakeholders, and painting a composition that involved both playful whimsy, and representations of local ecology and animal species. Moving forward, I remain interested in painting murals with lots of detail, geared for multigenerational audiences; but I am also interested in opportunities to move my mural work in a more bold and graphical direction, emphasizing shape, color and line work.
Originally, I hail from upstate New York. I relocated to the Boston area in 2011 to attend Tufts University. As a student, I had the opportunity to take studio art classes on both the Tufts Medford campus and at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. I graduated with a B.A. in Peace & Justice Studies in 2015, and I have enjoyed the robust local arts community ever since.
In addition to my illustration and mural work, I often lead workshops in embroidery and relief-printing, for venues that have included the MFA Boston and the Hebrew College. I also design a small line of illustrated goods, which I distribute online and through regional stockists.
