God and Ben Moore

Piece description from the artist

This illustration came out of two of my enduring interests – the color blue, and futile or unaccomplishable tasks. Last year I received a drawing prompt to make an illustration of the night sky. To emphasize the uncapturability of the color of the sky at night, I featured a swarm of color swatches, a familiar motif to me through my work as an illustrator. As with most of my work, this was intended to be both a serious and poignant meditation on the ineffability of life in the cosmos, as well as a light tongue-in-cheek color study.

Kit Collins is an illustrator and muralist based in Medford, MA. While digital illustration and painting make up the bulk of her artistic practice, Kit's work is influenced by a variety of craft techniques, such as printmaking and embroidery, and a cartoony sense of humor often shows up in her work. Whether every new illustration or blank wall, Kit seeks to create opportunities for viewers to experience levity, humor, celebration, and connection.
