24 Views of the California Superbloom

Piece description from the artist

The 2023 wildflower superbloom in California coincided with a moment of obsession with patchwork and quilting in my creative practice. Unwilling to put this composition idea on hold until I learned how to quilt, I chose to depict 24 thumbnail sketches – each a close up on a different photographic view of the superbloom – in a digitally illustrated patchwork. My hope was for the result to leave the viewer with an abstract impression of the shapes and colors of this scenery.
