“Reckless” is an Acrylic painting of a single horse captured running with all its feet off the ground. I love painting motion and drawn to the apparent passion and will of this horse.
To contrast the reds I used for the horse I applied layers of violets and turquoise blues in the background and used these same colors for the shadows of the horse. To transition into the foreground, I picked up the raw sienna I used for highlights for the horse to suggest dry grasses. Also, I added lots of subtle textures using palette knives and brushes loaded with color. The white strip on the face of this horse provided a perfect focal point and color accent.
The natural world and her love for animals inspire Dara Daniel's Acrylic on canvas, mixed-media paintings. She combines bold colors and shapes and lots of textures to create fun, playful interpretations of horses and other animal spirits.
