"Gentle Spirit" is an Acrylic on canvas of a white horse. I loved this horse's gentle and transparently curious gaze and felt inspired to capture its character and demeanor.
To begin this painting, I drew the bold form of this horse in relation to the negative shapes within a 30 by 30-inch square format. Then, after layers of colors, I decided the final colors be off-white for the background and warm greens for the foreground. This painting has lots of gritty textures that I created with Acrylic molding paste, giving this piece a raw and primitive quality.
The natural world and her love for animals inspire Dara Daniel's Acrylic on canvas, mixed-media paintings. She combines bold colors and shapes and lots of textures to create fun, playful interpretations of horses and other animal spirits.
