I had read about this stunning beach before I traveled to Santa Barbara, California. It was difficult to find the long, long staircase to this beach, tucked away around a residential corner of the city. My goal in capturing this beach was to expose its almost secretive location that featured so many astounding rocks wedged into the sandy beach, as if they were sprinkled there centuries ago. The solitude of this beach is inspiring, and allows people to escape from a hectic urban lifestyle, if only for an hour. The only living thing I saw on this beach was a labrador retriever who took flight across the waves to immerse himself in the sea. This was a joyful scene, and I will never forget the peace I felt while visiting there.

Lillis' goal is to create scenes with a unique perspective in a composition and color range to allow the viewer to feel as if they are in the scene. She wants her artwork to inspire others to travel and explore new locations.
