The island of Oahu in Hawaii offers so much in such a small place. All the beaches are remarkably beautiful. Depending on the month, and the weather, the ocean reacts with more or less vigor. In capturing this image, my goal was to showcase the intervals of the fierce waves, the ones with the heavy spray that made loud crashing noises. In this shot, there had been almost a full minute of calm before the waves picked up and began audibly smashing into the beach and rocks, creating a sandy, foamy, white spray several feet wide. To me, this piece represents the volatility of life, that being the most basic element of water. Some waves were soft, but others, in a grand cycle, would be frantic and powerful. This is much like life. This view represents strength, and I feel would invoke thought and awareness from the viewers.
