Medici Fountain Luxembourg Gardens Paris

Piece description from the artist

The Medici Fountain is a monumental fountain in the Jardin du Luxembourg in the 6th arrondissement in Paris. Built in about 1630, it was commissioned by Marie de' Medici, the widow of King Henry IV of France. This photo features fine sculptures that tell a story. The pond reflects the light and the surrounding trees. The pond is encircled by chairs where visitors can sit for hours consumed in their books, drawings, or conversation. My attempt at creating this photo was to allow others to envision themselves in this grand, traditional park in the middle of Paris. This fountain provides an oasis of tranquility and peace. In spring and summer, pastel flowers fill the stone pots near the chairs. I have always felt serenity in this place and my goal was to impart that feeling to the viewer through this image, and to stress the importance of staying quiet and enjoying being at peace with oneself.
