Bill Emerson Bridge Cape Girardeau Landmark Grayscale

Piece description from the artist

A peaceful evening moment captured in black in white beside the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where the towering cable-stayed structure rises above the Mississippi River. Recent heavy rains have pushed the river higher than usual, giving the water a stronger presence as it moves steadily beneath the bridge. Below, a train travels along the river corridor, adding scale and a quiet sense of motion to the scene.

Opened in 2004, the bridge replaced the original 1929 crossing and now carries Highway 74, connecting Missouri to Illinois. Named in honor of Bill Emerson, the bridge stands as both a modern landmark and a tribute to regional history. Captured in a vertical composition, this image highlights the height, structure, and quiet elegance of the bridge against the evening sky.
