Piece description from the artist
Passo di Giau is a mountain pass in the Dolomites of northern Italy. The valley and the pass in the shadow of the jagged peaks, are a haven for hikers, photographers, and nature lovers.
The mist moved fast that day. It rolled through the gaps in the peaks like waves on a restless sea. The mountains are motionless, but the mist gives them life. It swept through the scene, changing everything second, to second. I hoped to capture this. The motion. The way something so fleeting could reshape a place that’s stood for millennia.
The failing light was tinted rose — soft, but sharp where it hit lit ridges. The mountains waited, still as always, while the mist ran free.
Currently located in Washington, DC, Scott is a native Floridian photographer specializing in landscape photography. His work explores the interplay of light and dark — rejecting the notion that photography is just “painting with light.” He seeks what resides in the contrast — the liminal spaces of the world.
Scott has shot in some of the most beautiful locations in the world, including Iceland and locations throughout the Old World. But some of his most inspiring locations are right at home in America's enchanting National Parks.
