Piece description from the artist
In a quiet valley of the Dolomites, Chiesetta di San Giovanni, or the Chapel of St. John, stands alone. Its white walls and dark onion dome are set against a shadowy forest. The mountains loom behind, their peaks lost in the clouds. The muted purples and blues in the sky engender a dreamlike quality to the photograph.
I hoped to capture a sense of peace and sanctuary with this photo. That calm that comes at dawn after a long dark night when the world finally exhales after holding her breath.
The chapel has stood here since the 18th century, with its simple and small structure built by the hands of people who believed in something bigger.

Currently located in Washington, DC, Scott is a native Floridian photographer specializing in landscape photography. His work explores the interplay of light and dark — rejecting the notion that photography is just “painting with light.” He seeks what resides in the contrast — the liminal spaces of the world.
Scott has shot in some of the most beautiful locations in the world, including Iceland and locations throughout the Old World. But some of his most inspiring locations are right at home in America's enchanting National Parks.
