Piece description from the artist
"Times Like These" is an original acrylic painting on cradled wood panel that explores the tension between chaos and order, light and shadow, foreboding and hope. Soft, atmospheric layers of pastel pinks and misty greens drift across the composition, suggesting ephemeral beauty and emotional vulnerability. These painterly gestures are sharply interrupted by bold black geometric forms, introducing a sense of rupture or intrusion—yet also grounding the piece in a sense of structure. Delicate marks and subtle textures invite closer inspection, evoking fleeting moments of clarity amid uncertainty. This work captures the complexity of our times: turbulent yet tender, dissonant yet luminous.
A native of Washington, D.C. and third-generation artist, Clare's training includes a degree in Fine Art and years of printmaking study at the Corcoran College of Art. Clare’s work has been included in group and solo shows in the in the US and overseas.
Clare's current body of work is united by the theme of ecology and relationships. Through semi abstract nature-based paintings and prints, her work explores the way hope and a sense of connection can be found even during anxious or uncertain times.
According to the artist, "Each project is a challenge for me — finding the delicate balance between process and feeling.”
