Sky Full Of Wonder At Fellows Lake

Piece description from the artist

The Aurora Borealis dancing over Fellows Lake in Springfield, Missouri was one of those timeless wow moments, pure magic. Waves of pink, red, green, and purple shimmered across the night sky, their colors reflecting softly on the still water below as the lights moved and shifted overhead. For a brief instant, a shooting star even streaked through the scene, making the moment feel even more extraordinary.

On October 10, 2024, the Northern Lights were in storm mode, reaching an intense KP index of 8.67, allowing them to be seen unusually far south, even into Florida. I’m so glad we decided to head out on a busy weeknight to witness it. This was the second time I’ve experienced the aurora, but the first time it was clearly visible with the naked eye. The first time, the colors only revealed themselves through the camera—this time, the sky itself put on the show.
