Roughlock Falls Wilderness

There is something special about standing near Roughlock Falls and watching the water rush over the rocky ledges of Little Spearfish Creek. I captured this vertical photograph in Spearfish Canyon near Lead, South Dakota, surrounded by the beautiful forested landscape of the Black Hills.

Using a long exposure, I was able to turn the rushing water into a soft, silky flow as it winds through the rocks below. Moss-covered stones, trees, and rich green and golden tones add texture and depth, creating the kind of scene that makes you want to stop for a moment and take it all in.

Roughlock Falls is one of the most beautiful waterfall destinations in Spearfish Canyon and a favorite stop for those exploring the Black Hills. This image brings back the feeling of standing beside the creek, listening to the water and taking in the natural beauty of this South Dakota landscape, a wonderful piece of Black Hills wall art for anyone who loves waterfalls, nature, hiking, and scenic places.
