Piece description from the artist
This work is made of hand-cut paper from magazines and various art history books. Look closely and you'll see hidden in the leaves tiny birds, macaroni, medieval characters, ladybugs, a Roman soldier and a unicorn. These roses were inspired by photos I took at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens (Nashville).
Carolyn Beehler is a paper artist living in Franklin, Tennessee. She was born in California but grew up in the South. She attended elementary school on Henpeck Lane and finished with art school in that same town at O’More College of Design. She spent the next number of years traveling to places like Shanghai, Italy and L.A., because she worried she’d settle down and never get to see the world. She returned in 2014 and now works as a paper artist. Carolyn also likes gardening, reading and baking.
