River Reflections

Piece description from the artist

The shock of the real! While on a photographic visit to the Abiquiu zone of northern New Mexico, I was blessed with the discovery of this scene on the Rio Chama River. There are moments that include luck when as a photographer you intersect with an exceptional moment in time and space and nature. This was such a case. Yet it is worth qualifying… if you don't go, you will never find. As the evening faded and the badlands became illuminated with the unearthly sunset light, I quickly scrambled to find a proper composition to record the scene. It took all the width and breadth that my wide angle lens could muster to contain the amazing scene. To this day, this image stands as one of my most treasured observations of shocking natural light. This image was shot on 35mm Fuji Velvia Transparency film. One of my final shots before digital took over. Beautiful memory!
