Longhorn Steer

Longhorn Steer

Piece description from the artist

A Texas Longhorn stands on a dry grassy hill looking back at you, the viewer. With a white and brown coat and two foot long horns, this steer gives a lazy flick of its tail.

The Texas Longhorn is a breed of cow descended from the first cattle brought to the America's by Christopher Columbus. This particular breed is name for it's long horns which can stretch up to four feet from tip to tip. It is well suited for dryer conditions.

I've created a lot of western art, but to this point, I've never really featured much of the way of cattle. I thought it was about time I give it a try, the longhorn being common in the genre.

Thanks for looking!
