Piece description from the artist
I loved how this sailboat appeared to be sailing away from Alcatraz, as if it were escaping. I also loved the old school feel of this image, like it could have been taken 50 years ago, yet it was 2015. It's a moody piece with the overcast and the black and white. I just like it!
Danny Anderson has no formal training in photography, but he makes up for what he lacks in training with a unique perception of the world around him.
From the beginning, Danny's approach was simple; when he photographs a location, Danny attempts to capture not just what it looks like, but what it feels like to be there. In doing so, contrasts, composition, dynamics and drama have become an integral part of his process and consideration while making artwork. Danny is always searching for everyday beauty so he can allow the day-to-day imagery to distract and inspire him. Danny refers to this process as "natural distraction."
Danny currently lives and works in Brentwood, California.
