Fall misty morning

Fall Misty Morning

Piece description from the artist

This was another photograph taken the morning my nephew was born. On the way back from the hospital I stopped on this bridge over the Concord River. There was a lot of mist coming off of the water due to an extreme temperature drop overnight during an unusually warm October. I think of this capture as the quintessential New England scene that I love so much. I couldn't resist stopping to take this photo even after a long night in the hospital and even though it meant risking my life walking along side rush hour traffic!

About Katharine Bourgeois

Leominster, MA

I'm a fine art photographer and filmmaker living in the Boston area. I grew up here in Massachusetts always playing outside as a young child. Nature and the beauty of New England's landscapes continues to be the inspiration for my work. I was formally trained in painting and photography at Skidmore College graduating with a Bachelors Degree as a Fine Arts major in 2008. My very first photography class was through my Paris abroad program with Skidmore. I first learned how to take photos with a manual film camera. We developed and printed our own photos in the darkroom. I believe starting out this way helped me to be a better photographer. Now I've gone digital but I still always shoot in manual mode so that I have the most control possible over how my photographs come out.
