Piece description from the artist
At Tomhegan Wilderness Cabins on Moosehead Lake the deer are everywhere! Seriously, they feed them grain twice a day. It's a wildlife refuge so if you want to get up close and even hand feed or pet a deer you can. The camp is absolutely adorable with log cabins lining up on the shores of the vast and beautiful lake. This has got to be one of my favorite spots in Maine despite the 5 hour car ride to get there.
I'm a fine art photographer and filmmaker living in the Boston area. I grew up here in Massachusetts always playing outside as a young child. Nature and the beauty of New England's landscapes continues to be the inspiration for my work. I was formally trained in painting and photography at Skidmore College graduating with a Bachelors Degree as a Fine Arts major in 2008. My very first photography class was through my Paris abroad program with Skidmore. I first learned how to take photos with a manual film camera. We developed and printed our own photos in the darkroom. I believe starting out this way helped me to be a better photographer. Now I've gone digital but I still always shoot in manual mode so that I have the most control possible over how my photographs come out.
