Piece description from the artist
I love including roads in my landscapes. I crossed this one to get to Karersee in the Dolomites and noticed how it dipped down into the valley, appearing to cut a clean line through the mountains.
When we travel, roads and trails are the underlying conveyance of our adventure. We’ve even borrowed the Latin word “via,” which the Italians use to mean “road,” but we use to mean “by way of.” A road compels you to take it. That feeling, of being drawn forward, into the promise of unknown lands and unexpected encounters, I hoped to capture here.
A road leading to the horizon is a call to adventure and a promise of freedom.

Currently located in Washington, DC, Scott is a native Floridian photographer specializing in landscape photography. His work explores the interplay of light and dark — rejecting the notion that photography is just “painting with light.” He seeks what resides in the contrast — the liminal spaces of the world.
Scott has shot in some of the most beautiful locations in the world, including Iceland and locations throughout the Old World. But some of his most inspiring locations are right at home in America's enchanting National Parks.
