Piece description from the artist
It seems like anywhere you go in the Dolomites, the scenery humbles you. You feel small, but not insignificant. It places you in nature and makes you feel like you belong there.
I took this photo at Wildsee, a lake cradled in a quiet valley. The day was cold and still. The larch trees, with their golden autumn needles, displayed their colors sharp against the gray stone of the mountain named Seekofel. Clouds hung heavy on the peak. The lake, clear and calm, mirrored the trees and rough visages of rock.
I hoped to capture in this image the way the light hits the water and the way the mountain stands, unshaken and eternal. To convey how the Dolomites place the viewer in nature, where we come from, and feel drawn to return.

Currently located in Washington, DC, Scott is a native Floridian photographer specializing in landscape photography. His work explores the interplay of light and dark — rejecting the notion that photography is just “painting with light.” He seeks what resides in the contrast — the liminal spaces of the world.
Scott has shot in some of the most beautiful locations in the world, including Iceland and locations throughout the Old World. But some of his most inspiring locations are right at home in America's enchanting National Parks.
