This piece was inspired after a long hike along the Presidential Traverse in the White Mountains, NH. This was my first solo hike — I was completely alone in the mountains, slowly making progress along the trail. Eisenhower was the first peak of 4 I summited that day. Nothing will ever compare to coming over the ridge and seeing the valley below.

About Madison Weist

Philadelphia, PA

Madison Weist is a young artist working out of Philadelphia, PA. Her work focuses on the intersection of color and form, manipulating wax and loose pigment with a variety of tools. She pulls her color palate and compositions from her travels across the US and Western Europe. She focuses on capturing humanity's relationship to nature through her color choices and subject matter.

Her interests outside of art include teaching, rock climbing, dance and coffee. Currently, she is working in the Special Education Department of a High School in West Philadelphia.
