Piece description from the artist
This piece was inspired from a cross-country road trip I took back in 2015. We were driving across Utah and stopped at the Salt Flats. Gazing down at the ground beneath my feet I snapped a photograph and used that for inspiration to create this work.
Madison Weist is a young artist working out of Philadelphia, PA. Her work focuses on the intersection of color and form, manipulating wax and loose pigment with a variety of tools. She pulls her color palate and compositions from her travels across the US and Western Europe. She focuses on capturing humanity's relationship to nature through her color choices and subject matter.
Her interests outside of art include teaching, rock climbing, dance and coffee. Currently, she is working in the Special Education Department of a High School in West Philadelphia.
