Piece description from the artist
The remains of a dead tree are all that remain on a desiccated clay pan in the Namibian desert; this place is called Deadvlei; or "dead marsh" in Afrikaans. I wanted the tree silhouetted against the orange dune beyond, which was being quickly lit by the rising sun. I especially enjoy the contrast in color temperature between the clay and sand dune.
