Big Laughing Jim Mushroom

Piece description from the artist

Yes, these mushrooms are called Big Laughing Jim mushrooms that grow in the forest. With this sculpture, I have created a small window into the micro world of the forest floor. I usually meander through a forest or natural landscape with my head down, searching for tiny treasures that are readily found by the observant viewer. I have created these miniature views of the wilderness for people to admire the wonders of the natural world. Depending on the sculpture, the mushrooms, leaves and berries, and assorted other natural object found in nature are sculpted with various types of clay. These are then paired with found naturally occurring objects from the forest, including old pieces of wood and bark, pinecones, acorns, feathers, lichen, and moss. When completed, these sculptures create a window into the tiny world of the forest floor.
