Aspen boles, Red Mountain Pass

Piece description from the artist

My goal in photography is to capture moments in the outdoors that renew our respect for wildlife and wild places. This image shows one of those wild places — Red Mountain Pass — high in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. Aspens have the ability to clone themselves as roots sprout new trees that share an identical genetic makeup. There can be multiple clones in an aspen grove or the entire grove can be one clone. Aspens are one of the first trees to colonize a burned area after a fire.
