My goal in photography is to capture moments in the outdoors that remind us of all the life around us and how important it is to protect it. I made this image during a visit to Florida, where I was able to view great egrets during mating time. This male great egret is showing off his courting display in hopes of attracting a mate.
After a career as a photographer and visuals editor in newspapers, I decided to focus on documenting the natural world. I hope my images can not only bring others joy but also create a better understanding of the beauty and life around us.
During my career, my photos have been published in regional and national magazines including National Geographic Traveler, U.S. News & World Report, New Mexico Magazine, Popular Science, and Albuquerque Monthly; and in books and calendars by National Geographic Books, Falcon Press, Rio Nuevo Press, Sierra Press, Landmark, Sierra Club and others.
