Piece description from the artist

One April, while visiting family in Arizona, I ventured outside to get a closer look at this magnificent, yet thorny bush. In its entirety, the color is spectacular. But looking closer, there was another story to be had. What many people think are the blooms of the bougainvillea, are not actually blooms at all. The showy paper-like ‘petals’ are modified leaves called bracts. The actual flowers, which are hidden inside, are quite tiny, trumpet-shaped and in colors of white or yellow. I found this flower coming to life nestled in such softness. The lighting was ideal to showcase the true star of the shot.

About David Gibides

Norristown, PA

David Gibides is a professional fine art photographer who brings people hope. With over 15,000 hours in the field and studio, he transports people to a place of love, joy, peace, and hope – pixel by pixel. He shares God’s creation Up Close and Personal. Mostly self-taught, David has perfected the use of composition, light, and color, with shallow depth of field, which brings his audience closer to the Creator, into His world. The exquisite beauty and detail revealed are something they might never have experienced otherwise. Presenting the photos in an oversized format as he does, one can’t help but stop and be awestruck at what they see before them. They are images that touch the soul. Ultimately, David wishes to adorn the lobbies, and walls of health care centers, doctors offices and more to spread hope, joy, peace and love.
