Piece description from the artist
This is a photo of the view when I finally got to the top of the ridge where there are some remaining old growth hemlock trees in Massachusetts. It was so hot and buggy but the second I got up here a cool breeze came through. It almost felt as if the trees were welcoming me to come see them.
I'm a fine art photographer and filmmaker living in the Boston area. I grew up here in Massachusetts always playing outside as a young child. Nature and the beauty of New England's landscapes continues to be the inspiration for my work. I was formally trained in painting and photography at Skidmore College graduating with a Bachelors Degree as a Fine Arts major in 2008. My very first photography class was through my Paris abroad program with Skidmore. I first learned how to take photos with a manual film camera. We developed and printed our own photos in the darkroom. I believe starting out this way helped me to be a better photographer. Now I've gone digital but I still always shoot in manual mode so that I have the most control possible over how my photographs come out.
