Alton bay

Alton Bay

Piece description from the artist

This past October I hiked up Mount Major to take photos. Most of the photos I took were facing the opposite direction towards the White Mountains. And while all of those mountain tops are beautiful to look at, I was surprised to turn around and see how sweet and lovely Alton Bay looked from above. Alton is a beautiful place that families have been visiting for generations and it's no wonder why.

About Katharine Bourgeois

Leominster, MA

I'm a fine art photographer and filmmaker living in the Boston area. I grew up here in Massachusetts always playing outside as a young child. Nature and the beauty of New England's landscapes continues to be the inspiration for my work. I was formally trained in painting and photography at Skidmore College graduating with a Bachelors Degree as a Fine Arts major in 2008. My very first photography class was through my Paris abroad program with Skidmore. I first learned how to take photos with a manual film camera. We developed and printed our own photos in the darkroom. I believe starting out this way helped me to be a better photographer. Now I've gone digital but I still always shoot in manual mode so that I have the most control possible over how my photographs come out.
