Meghan C Murray is an emerging artist and educator in Massachusetts. After earning her BS in Studio Art and Arts Administration at Skidmore College, she completed a year-long residency at the Emerson Umbrella Arts Center in Concord, MA, where she strengthened her independent practice in a non-academic setting. Murray currently maintains her studio practice in southeastern Massachusetts, actively involved in the community that helped raise her to be an artist. An instructor at Hunakai Studios, she leads students of all ages to improve upon their own art-making and finds fulfillment in mentoring high schoolers who hope to pursue art after graduation.
Murray works primarily in traditional oils. Her methodical practice is influenced by the blending of various moments in art history with the contemporary. She is interested in the influence of light on color and the resulting nuance. Through the work, Murray examines her compositions with careful detail and consideration, with hopes of capturing subtlety in a painterly manner.
