In Wild Roots, I explore the intricate, hidden scaffolding of the ancient cedar forests in Glacier National Park, revealing a dramatic burst of raw resilience that normally remains buried beneath the forest floor. Upended and exposed to the elements, this sprawling network of gnarled wood transforms into a sculpted tapestry of texture, strength, and quiet endurance. The interwoven tendrils reach outward like an organic starburst, holding the warmth of weathered earth against soft, ethereal forest light—a testament to the unseen ties that anchor us to the wild and the quiet power found in nature’s unyielding cycles of decay and rebirth.
Annie was born and raised in Montana, growing up on her family's ranch in the beautiful Smith River Valley. Growing up in Montana's wild and beautiful Landscape led to her deep love of nature and all things rural. Annie attended the Art Institute of Colorado and lived in Denver Colorado until the completion of her Interior Design degree in 2002. After working in that field for several years, Annie moved back to Montana and began her own business, focusing on her ever-growing love of photography. She began traveling the backroads and wilderness of Montana and the Rocky Mountain region and selling her photos professionally in galleries, shops, and online. She primarily searches for rural Landscapes, old barns, abandoned farmhouses, and occasionally wildlife she encounters. Her work as been featured in HGTV, Better Homes and Gardens, and featured in three books on emerging artists of the United States. She currently lives in Billings, Montana, and takes several trips during the year to gather new images.
