Piece description from the artist
My goal is to make photographs that convey a sense of respect and love for all the life and beauty around us. Horses, both wild and domesticated, have always held a special place in my heart. I’ve made several trips to Sand Wash Basin in northwest Colorado to spend time with the wild horses there. In this image, two members of a familial band share a loving moment at a watering hole.
After a career as a photographer and visuals editor in newspapers, I decided to focus on documenting the natural world. I hope my images can not only bring others joy but also create a better understanding of the beauty and life around us.
During my career, my photos have been published in regional and national magazines including National Geographic Traveler, U.S. News & World Report, New Mexico Magazine, Popular Science, and Albuquerque Monthly; and in books and calendars by National Geographic Books, Falcon Press, Rio Nuevo Press, Sierra Press, Landmark, Sierra Club and others.
