This photo to me is the epitome of the spirit of Brooklyn, the front of a home painted mural style, with a warm welcome to all those passing by… "Welcome home", in this way, all strangers become friends. The shadows bring the aspect of the unknown to the composition, while the highlights emphasize the vibrant colors that say all that you are has a home here in the city.
Vanessa 'Venusian' Edwards is a Brooklyn-based visual artist, photographer, and Temple alumna who thrives on color, concept, and creativity. Through visually stimulating editing, she loves to emphasize the aspect of story and human emotion in any single photograph. Her favorite saying regarding her work is "human emotion is a lost art", which is something she aims to capture in every shot. As creative director and co-curator of the New York Art Collective and 1/2 of the creative team Sickly Particular, she is an active participant and driver of the arts community in Brooklyn. Her debut solo show, "She's Damaged" was an incredible success which has motivated her to continue her own creative projects and collaborations as well as curating other group shows.
