My favorite thing about New York City is the lighting at night. There is a certain spirit about the city at night that is hard to describe. It's a romance, a love language. One that can only be felt and heard by those whose hearts and minds are open. Night time in the city carries with it the supernatural, the mysterious, and the dangerous. All the while, pulling at the strings of love and curiosity that exist in its observers.
Vanessa 'Venusian' Edwards is a Brooklyn-based visual artist, photographer, and Temple alumna who thrives on color, concept, and creativity. Through visually stimulating editing, she loves to emphasize the aspect of story and human emotion in any single photograph. Her favorite saying regarding her work is "human emotion is a lost art", which is something she aims to capture in every shot. As creative director and co-curator of the New York Art Collective and 1/2 of the creative team Sickly Particular, she is an active participant and driver of the arts community in Brooklyn. Her debut solo show, "She's Damaged" was an incredible success which has motivated her to continue her own creative projects and collaborations as well as curating other group shows.
