In Waiting in the Dandelions, I sought to capture this rare moment of vulnerability and quiet trust in the wild. Nestled deeply within a sea of green clover and vibrant yellow dandelions, a newborn elk calf lies curled up, motionless and watchful, relying on instinct and natural camouflage to remain hidden. The contrast between the soft, spotted coat of the calf and the lively burst of springtime flora creates a soothing, peaceful narrative that honors the delicate beginnings of life and the gentle, hidden wonders of the natural world. Capturing these animals with my camera is truly an amazing experience.
Annie was born and raised in Montana, growing up on her family's ranch in the beautiful Smith River Valley. Growing up in Montana's wild and beautiful Landscape led to her deep love of nature and all things rural. Annie attended the Art Institute of Colorado and lived in Denver Colorado until the completion of her Interior Design degree in 2002. After working in that field for several years, Annie moved back to Montana and began her own business, focusing on her ever-growing love of photography. She began traveling the backroads and wilderness of Montana and the Rocky Mountain region and selling her photos professionally in galleries, shops, and online. She primarily searches for rural Landscapes, old barns, abandoned farmhouses, and occasionally wildlife she encounters. Her work as been featured in HGTV, Better Homes and Gardens, and featured in three books on emerging artists of the United States. She currently lives in Billings, Montana, and takes several trips during the year to gather new images.
