I love to capture the elegant style of vintage signs. I was lucky enough to come across this vintage sign advertising for a men's wear shop in rural Montana. It was hand-painted long ago and has elegant vintage style in a script font. These signs were painted by skilled artisans known as "wall dogs." These painters hung from the sides of buildings to apply their art, which was often done using oil-based paints containing lead, helping them survive on masonry for over a century.
Annie was born and raised in Montana, growing up on her family's ranch in the beautiful Smith River Valley. Growing up in Montana's wild and beautiful Landscape led to her deep love of nature and all things rural. Annie attended the Art Institute of Colorado and lived in Denver Colorado until the completion of her Interior Design degree in 2002. After working in that field for several years, Annie moved back to Montana and began her own business, focusing on her ever-growing love of photography. She began traveling the backroads and wilderness of Montana and the Rocky Mountain region and selling her photos professionally in galleries, shops, and online. She primarily searches for rural Landscapes, old barns, abandoned farmhouses, and occasionally wildlife she encounters. Her work as been featured in HGTV, Better Homes and Gardens, and featured in three books on emerging artists of the United States. She currently lives in Billings, Montana, and takes several trips during the year to gather new images.
