Valley View North Rim Canyon de Chelly

Standing at the edge of a towering cliff near the Mummy Cave overlook along North Rim Drive in Canyon de Chelly National Monument near Chinle, Arizona, this view captures the expansive beauty of Tseh-Ya-Kin Canyon. The afternoon sun casts a warm orange glow across the sandstone cliffs, highlighting the rugged textures and dramatic vertical drops of the canyon walls.

Below, the valley floor is dotted with green grasses and a gentle curve of trees that trace the winding dry creek, creating a serene contrast to the sheer cliffs above. The adjacent cliff edge emphasizes the dizzying height of nearly 1,000 feet, giving a sense of scale to this breathtaking landscape. This area was once home to the Ancestral Puebloans (formerly called Anasazi) during the 13th and 14th centuries, who navigated, farmed, and thrived in this dramatic canyon environment, leaving behind cliff dwellings that still mark the walls today.
