Tropical fantasy

Tropical Fantasy

Piece description from the artist

I recently entered this painting into an art contest called Fin, Feather, and Fur. I knew it had to be big, bold, and different to get accepted into the show. I was inspired by a picture I took while cruising the St. Johns River in Jacksonville. I took a picture of a big blue heron on a log looking at a big white egret. I knew as soon as I took that picture I would have to something special with it. I wanted it to be more whimsical with bright tropical flowers and elegant orchids. I like painting from my photographs, but I don't want my work to look like one.
