Piece description from the artist
This vertical photograph captures a wooden boardwalk leading toward a scenic overlook at Trail of Tears State Park in Jackson, Missouri, USA The elevated walkway naturally draws the eye forward, guiding you through the trees and toward an expansive view overlooking the Mississippi River.
An overcast sky hangs quietly over the landscape, creating a soft, mystical haze that adds depth and mood to the scene. The muted light enhances the calm atmosphere, allowing the overlook to feel both peaceful and reflective. Part of the Ozarks, this public recreation area spans 3,415 acres in Cape Girardeau County and serves as a solemn memorial honoring the Cherokee people who lost their lives along the historic Trail of Tears. The vertical composition emphasizes the journey, and history, leading to this meaningful vantage point.
