Piece description from the artist
Ginny grew up as the middle child with two brothers, so it makes perfect sense that she feels the inspiration behind this pattern is deeply rooted in her memories of the wooden block sets and Thomas the Train bed sheets they shared.
Ginny Nesom is a recent graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she focused primarily on illustration and fashion design. She has worked alongside fashion illustrator Steve Miller and head wear designer Eia Radosavljevic and was this years recipient of the prestigious Nick Cave Millinery Award. She currently lives in Chicago exploring new concepts, expanding her portfolio, and taking on commissioned projects.
Originally from the East Coast, Ginny developed her artistic interests at a young age and enjoys many forms of creative endeavors such as object design, sculpture, teaching, and mixed media drawing. The influence of her experiences, family, and environment envelop her work with a humorous but curiously edgy aesthetic.
