Piece description from the artist
Ginny started this piece as an attempt at a birthday card for her boyfriend who's nickname for her is "Shrimpy" after her East Coast roots. Soon into the drawing she realized it was taking a different direction and found the end product left her homesick and thinking about delicious seafood.
Ginny Nesom is a recent graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she focused primarily on illustration and fashion design. She has worked alongside fashion illustrator Steve Miller and head wear designer Eia Radosavljevic and was this years recipient of the prestigious Nick Cave Millinery Award. She currently lives in Chicago exploring new concepts, expanding her portfolio, and taking on commissioned projects.
Originally from the East Coast, Ginny developed her artistic interests at a young age and enjoys many forms of creative endeavors such as object design, sculpture, teaching, and mixed media drawing. The influence of her experiences, family, and environment envelop her work with a humorous but curiously edgy aesthetic.
