Piece description from the artist
A weathered, wooden grain elevator stands as a solitary sentinel in the center of the frame, its faded and peeling white paint revealing the silvered timber of decades spent enduring the elements. The structure is positioned against an immense, moody sky where a heavy canopy of slate-gray storm clouds looms overhead, transitioning into a hazy, pale mist near the horizon. Below, the building is grounded by a flat expanse of green prairie and golden, dried grasses, with a thin power line stretching away into the distance, emphasizing the isolation and quiet resilience of this rural icon under the weight of an approaching storm. I love to capture these old icons of the American West, standing tall amongst the open skies and broad fields that surround them.
Annie was born and raised in Montana, growing up on her family's ranch in the beautiful Smith River Valley. Growing up in Montana's wild and beautiful Landscape led to her deep love of nature and all things rural. Annie attended the Art Institute of Colorado and lived in Denver Colorado until the completion of her Interior Design degree in 2002. After working in that field for several years, Annie moved back to Montana and began her own business, focusing on her ever-growing love of photography. She began traveling the backroads and wilderness of Montana and the Rocky Mountain region and selling her photos professionally in galleries, shops, and online. She primarily searches for rural Landscapes, old barns, abandoned farmhouses, and occasionally wildlife she encounters. Her work as been featured in HGTV, Better Homes and Gardens, and featured in three books on emerging artists of the United States. She currently lives in Billings, Montana, and takes several trips during the year to gather new images.
