Three Graces

Three Graces

Piece description from the artist

Acrylic on a Photographic C-Print. Photo of a famous Roman copy of a Greek sculpture. I shot it at the Met in NYC. Enlarged and mounted on styrene and painted on. Then varnished. I painted this like a jazz musician improvises, letting one shape and color suggest the next, painting free hand using acrylics and paint pens. At some point I just stop, staying open to that moment when it feels done, when I get a visceral sensual feeling that I have completed a piece of visual music, like a song is finished. It's a truly organic moment. The Three Graces represented fertility and growth, beauty in the arts, harmonious reciprocity between men.
