Thomas jefferson memorial in black and white

Thomas Jefferson Memorial in Black and White

Piece description from the artist

This image was taken from the banks of the Tidal Basin, near the iconic Cherry Blossoms. The dome on this memorial is one of the most iconic features associated with Washington DC as it is seen in nearly every film or TV show when the director wants you to know you have arrived in Washington DC, or "The District." The stunning reflections of the memorial in the water give this image almost a feeling of duplicity, a nod to the politics that go on in this town. Through a rich black background the memorial punches its way to the view with its bold white marble contrast. Original comes in a white mat with black wooden frame.

About Gene Sizemore

Lorton, VA

Gene is a retired disabled veteran with over 24 years serving as a Technology Specialist in the United States Army. He holds a Masters Degree in Management, and has been active as a photographer for over 30 years. Gene is completely self-taught, and has amassed an expansive inventory of images from all over the world. When he is not working, or out taking pictures, Gene teaches photography as the Digital Nature Photography instructor for the Girl Scouts of America in Virginia, and position he has proudly held for over 6 years now. Gene's passion for photography came during the film years, and as photography became more technical, Gene's background in IT made the transition a natural fit. He's is known for balking at the digital editing critics, saying "If a digital artist uses the computer to do all the work, then Ansel Adams used chemistry to do all his work. At the end of what ever process an artist uses, only an artist knows when to stop, step back and say…now thats what I wanted to convey" .
