Piece description from the artist
A powerful sense of quiet awe fills the air at sunrise in Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, Arizona, where the iconic East Mitten Butte and West Mitten Butte rise in solemn silhouette against a dramatic sunrise behind them. Deep blues melt into glowing bands of orange along the horizon as the sun slowly emerges from behind a layer of dark, lingering clouds. A soft haze stretches across the distance, adding a quiet mystery and emotional depth to the moment.
Known as the Seventh Wonder of Navajoland, this sacred landscape in Arizona stirs both humility and peace, inviting reflection as daybreak gently awakens the desert. The timeless presence of the Mittens, standing strong against the changing light, captures the enduring spirit, reverence, and serene beauty that make Monument Valley one of the most moving sunrise experiences in the American Southwest.
