Piece description from the artist
This photograph captures another vibrant view of Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas, one of the most iconic roadside attractions along Route 66, just off Interstate 40. Ten classic Cadillacs are planted nose-first into the Texas soil, their tailfins reaching skyward in a bold display of pop art and Americana. Installed in 1974, the cars span model years from 1949 to 1963 and remain visible from the highway, drawing travelers from around the world.
Unlike most landmarks, Cadillac Ranch invites participation, spray painting and graffiti are not only allowed but encouraged. Over the years, countless layers of paint have built up, giving the cars thick, textured surfaces that constantly change in color and pattern. In this scene, the vehicles are wildly decorated, blending art, expression, and chaos into a living canvas. The moment reflects the ever-evolving nature of Cadillac Ranch, where no two visits, and no two photographs, are ever the same.
