Alpenglow – those few extraordinary minutes (sometimes less) just after a mountain sunset when the atmosphere does something magical. This unforgetable image from Summit County, Colorado was the reward for patiently sticking around as the last embers of daylight ignited the rocky ridgeline. The jagged, snow-covered peaks of the Ten Mile Range glowed briefly in warm amber and burnt orange against a cotton candy purple and pink sky — warm and cold, fire and ice, all of it happening at once and none of it lasting more than a heartbeat.
Brian Kerls is a Colorado landscape photographer whose images of the raw beauty and quiet drama of the world around us are deeply rooted in his life-long love of adventure and exploration.
