Tearing Me Up

Piece description from the artist

Shany Porras’s contemporary, 24×24-inch artwork on cradled wood board is painted with a mixture of mediums, including acrylic paints, spray paints, and graphite. Scraped layers of red, beige, and brown are interrupted and ordered by thin graphite lines and sharp stripes in the foreground. See-through stripes in browns and reds add glossiness in specific areas.

“Many of my paintings are translations of popular music heard on the radio today. For this painting, I translated a Bob Moses song into a red environment that is punctuated by solid and transparent stripes, signifying the rhythm and fluidity found in the song.”

-Shany Porras

Shany Porras has signed the back and includes written details, including a serial number on the back. A certificate of authenticity, signed by the artist, is included once purchased. This painting is not framed, but it is cradled with a wood frame giving it a 1 3/4-inch depth.
